This very Sad news was announced by Sean’s family, James Bond legend the Scottish-born actor Sir Sean Connery has died in his sleep at 90, after a long illness. He passed away in the Bahamas and leaves behind his wife Micheline and two sons Jason and Stefan. Connery had been surrounded by ‘many of his family’ who could be there when he died.
Connery enjoyed a long and special career but is best known for playing James Bond the iconic spy. He was considered one of the best actors. In 1962’s, Sir Sean was the first star to play the 007 on the big screen in 1962’s. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000, and his last acting role had been in Stephen Norrington’s “The League of Extraordinary Gentleman” (2003). He marked his 90th birthday in August.
The Sir Connery was recently voted the best James Bond actor and most reliable men in the Radio Times poll in the U.K. Connery gets 56% of more than 14,000 votes. He remained as the ‘best Bond ever’ after starring in seven hit films in total.
After a hugely successful career spanning more than 40 years, Sir Sean went on to win an Oscar, two Baftas and three Golden Globes.
“He revolted the world with his gritty and witty portrayal of the sexy and charismatic secret agent. He is certainly largely responsible for the success of the series and we shall be always grateful to him,” said the producers.
The Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said Connery “was and shall always be remembered in the history of cinema as the original James Bond with those unforgettable words, ‘The name’s Bond… James Bond.’

The Official Twitter account of James Bond shared a sincere statement from producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli who admitted they were ‘ ruined’ by the news.
George Lucas, creator of Indiana Jones, wrote that Sean Connery “left an indelible mark in cinematic history. His audiences spanned generations, each with favorite roles he played. He will always hold a special place in my heart as Indy’s dad”
He was also a good footballer. While touring with the musical in London, Sir Matt Busby the Manchester United manager saw him play in a friendly against a local side, and he offered a contract with him.
